It depends on the equipment, how it’s used and the operating environment — not a single number for an entire industry. Intervals under AS/NZS 3760:2022 range from 3 months (construction sites) through to 12 months (general office and classroom areas), and many workplaces need different schedules per area.
WHS regulations require employers to ensure electrical equipment is safe. Testing to AS/NZS 3760 is the recognised way to demonstrate that duty of care, and many insurers and auditors expect it.
